12 Hofmeyr is in Gardens, just off very vibrant Kloof Street which is filled with restaurants, coffee shops, galleries and design stores. The immediate neighbourhood is full of charm and useful addresses (and dresses). Here are the ones we most enjoy…
For an excellent breakfast and good coffee try Manna Epicure around the corner. Lovely, whimsical decor (it reminds us of our White Room) and exceptional bread, as well as light lunches and dinners.
Another good option for breakfast, cake and coffee, as well as delicious light lunches and snacks. A delicious and large (and beautifully packaged) selection of deli items are also available.
Another excellent option for lunch. The food tastes as good as the charming exterior suggests.
For the best meat in Cape Town (and possibly the country) look no further than Carne, conveniently located next to Manna Epicure. The smaller sister venue of the original restaurant on Keerom Street, the menu is a slightly pared down version, but the quality of the food remains exceptional.
The Black Sheep
For a sundowner, try the Black Sheep. They also serve lunch and dinner.
A fan of minimalist design? Look no further than lim, a few doors down from Melissa’s.
Oranjezicht City Farm
Need some green space? De Waal Park is a short walk away. A bit further up the road is the Oranjezicht City Farm. The Saturday market is fabulous and you can visit the garden during the week.
